Some bc pills cause darkening of the skin on the face --- cheeks and forehead... unfortunately usually permanent. Acne... apart from accutane, I use Retin A, .1% It exfoliates the skin well. i use proactiv solutions. its pricey, but totally worth it. it completely cleared my skin in a year (i know that seems long), but my redness and bumps started to go away after 3 weeks or so. good luck
