Using a cleanser will help prevent the cyst from forming, but once the oil had built up it has to be removed.
Sorry to break the bad news. If its any consolation the procedure doesn't take very long...but it does hurt if it is on your head because there isn't much the doctor can do in the way of anesthesia.
-KidxCan deep cleansers help clear sebum cysts?
What are the most common causes of Acne?:
Are you the one causing your own acne? The answer is NO. It's not your fault. Contrary to popular belief, acne is not caused by anything you're doing 鈥?what you eat, how often you wash your face or work out 鈥?but what it is caused by is a combination of factors at work far beneath the surface of your skin.
Acne is a skin condition caused by overactivity of the glands that secrete oily substances on to the skin. The blackheads and spots usually occur on the face, where the greatest number of these oil-producing ';sebaceous'; glands exist. The back, chest and shoulders can also be affected. The exact cause of acne is unknown, but doctors believe it results from several factors that can relate to one another. One important factor is an increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones). These increase is in both boys and girls during puberty and it causes the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy or starting or stopping birth control pills can also cause acne. Heredity or genetics is another factor of acne. Researchers believe that the tendency to develop acne can be inherited from a child's parents. Certain drugs, including androgens and lithium, are known to cause acne. Greasy cosmetics may alter the cells of the follicles and make them stick together, producing a plug. Age and race really is not a factor when acne comes to play. People of all races and ages get acne even though it can be said that acne is most common in adolescents and young adults. Nearly 85 percent of people between the ages of 12 and 24 develop the disorder. For most people, acne tends to go away by the time they reach their thirties, however, some people in their forties and fifties continue to have this skin problem.
Besides general factors that you cannot control, there are some factors that you could engage in that would only make your acne problem worse.
Those factors include:
-Changing hormone levels in adolescent girls and adult women 2 to 7 days before their menstrual period starts
-Friction caused by leaning on or rubbing the skin
-Pressure from bike helmets, backpacks, or tight collars
-Environmental irritants, such as pollution and high humidity
-Squeezing or picking at blemishes
-Hard scrubbing of the skin.
