Soreness and a little ';sebum'; after 12->8 gauge. 24 hours later?

No blood at all, just the rare little red crusty. No visible redness around area, tiny bit of sebum on q-tip used before salt soaking. Is this normal for the first 24 hour period after moving up a gauge?Soreness and a little ';sebum'; after 12-%26gt;8 gauge. 24 hours later?
Of course they're going to be sore.
