I have tried washing my face with purpose soap and other soaps that say they don't clog pores, I have used Retina-A, I have tried face toners containing salycid acid. I am just out of options and these things are driving me crazy. It is worse under my eyes, on my nose, and my chin. They are not noticeable unless you are like four inches from my face, but it is driving me crazy anyhow. Someone please give me some good advice to make this problem go away. I notice my pores are enlarged in these areas and I am hoping if I solve this problem it will help with the pore issue, is that a good assumption? If not any suggestions on how to reduce pore size outside of rubbing ice on them and washing with warm water and cold, I already do those to suggestions, but they do not help much.My pores are filled with sebum (a white substance) that I can squeeze out. How can I stop it in the 1st place?
I have had the same problem since I was twelve, so 20 years now. I got my Dr. to refer me to a dermatologist who put me on Accutane. This stuff slows the production of sebum and oil, and allows your pores to shrink. I've been on it for a month and a half, and my skin has gone from rough and 'holey', to smooth like a baby. My pores haven't totally disappeared yet, but they are hardly noticable. I'm going to go get a facial, too. The estheticians can do a better job of cleaning out our pores than we can. Just tell them if you're on Accutane, so they can be gentle. Accutane makes your skin very sensitive to dryness. Also it's expensive. $72 for a month's worth, and youy have to go on it 5 or 6 months. Good luck!!My pores are filled with sebum (a white substance) that I can squeeze out. How can I stop it in the 1st place?
I have had the same problem my whole life. It is called whiteheads. I am now using Alpha Hydrox products and my face is clearing up. It takes several weeks. I started 8% starter kit. I am now on the 10% oil free, foaming face wash, and Silk Moisturizer. Next, the 12% souffle. Report Abuse

Have you ever tried Pro-Activ?
wash your face with noxema or something like it, rinse, then use an alcohol pad or cotton ball with alcohol on it you won't beleive what can still be on your face(oil) after you've some of these special soaps..let it air dry you will feel your face tighting while it dries..then if need be put a small amount of regular lotion on to help from overdrying//good luck
Some people do have enlarged pores and they can be clogged. Retin A is usually used for acne and salycid (sp) is used as an abrasive to remove dead skin, I believe. I would look into seeing a dermatologist and they may be able to prescribe a treatment for you.
A few things I would suggest: Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day--that's 64 oz. Water helps keep the system flushed so the skin doesn't have to do so much work getting rid of toxins. Also, make sure you are not constipated--eat fruits and vegetables. Fruit is the cleanser of the body--eat 3-6 fresh servings a day.
If you want beautiful skin, eat raw fruit and veggies! Beauty comes from within.
Take zinc 100mg a day for 3 months, then cut back to 25-50mg. Zinc is first class in balancing hormones for both men and women and can help sallow skin look better as well as clear up overactive sebum production. Don't take it on an empty stomach!
Check out Light Stim http://www.lightstim.com/ it is expensive but effective.

OMG I have the same problem too! I have been using Avon 2 step peel. (glycolic acid) it really seems to be working but I cant be sure, I've only been using it a week so its early to tell. My skin is definitely clearer and smoother, as for reducing the pores permanently we'll have to just wait and see!
